Experience

My name is Lachlan Maudsley. I have experience training everyone from general population clients to Division I athletes.

I am a CSEP-certified Personal Trainer® and CFES Group Fitness Instructor. I am a professional and student member of CSEP, have my First Aid and CPR certification, am a CSEP High-Performance Specialist®, and am qualifying to be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with the CSCA. Because of these qualifications, the University of British Columbia Okanagan Recreation Department offers my services as both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I currently create and deliver ongoing personal training programs to clients with a range of needs and goals including hypertrophy, weight loss, and sports performance. I also create and teach fitness classes that focus on strength, circuit training, and athletic mobility.

Sport has always been my passion. I played soccer, and volleyball and competed in track and field. I ultimately chose to pursue basketball and started playing when I was just six years old. I won three Ontario championships with the Scarborough Blues, was captain of the junior team at the Birchmount Park Exceptional Athlete Program, and was recruited by Central Technical School to play in the elite Ontario Preparatory League. I then played on the red-shirt team in my first year at the University of British Columbia.During my basketball journey, I gained an in-depth understanding of high-level athletics, learned how to motivate myself and others, and demonstrated an outstanding work ethic.

It was this passion for sports performance that took me to the Human Kinetics program at the University of British Columbia. I am completing the four-year honors program with a minor in psychology. In my degree, I’m learning about exercise physiology, neuroscience, nutrition, and the mental aspects of coaching and performance. This knowledge is allowing me to pursue my goal of helping elite athletes and everyday people become the best version of themselves.

To strengthen what I’m learning in the classroom, I’m one of five people chosen for a varsity strength and conditioning internship. I assist the university’s head strength and conditioning coach by working with volleyball, soccer, basketball, and cross-country athletes daily to help with their programs. As a result, I am very comfortable in a weight room, assisting in testing, coaching, programming, and training protocols. I have also interned in Toronto at AXIS Performance and Training with strength and conditioning coach Joel White. He is responsible for many elite-level professional clients including Olympic and NBA-level talent.
